2017 Photo Contest:

We are seeking photos to tell the story of your visit to the beautiful Laurel Highlands! Enter your photos taken in the Laurel Highlands in our annual Photo Contest for a chance to win cash prizes ranging from $100 to $500! The photos can range from landscapes to your family having fun at a local attraction.

Cash prizes for 1st-3rd place will be awarded in four categories, and the winning photos will be featured in the 2018 Laurel Highlands Destination Guide, on, and in special exhibits throughout the Laurel Highlands. 

Photo entry categories include: People, Plants & Animals, Places (Attractions & Landscapes), and Altered Images (use of photo effects).

NEW this year - we are also featuring a bonus "special interest" category! This special category will have one winner and the award amount is $100. Submit your best photos from your favorite Laurel Highlands brewery, distillery, or winery to be considered in this category!

The 2017 Photo Contest Categories include:

Category 1: People

Category 2: Plants & Animals (Nature)

Category 3: Places (Attractions & Landscapes)

Category 4: Altered Images (use of visual effects such as colorizing, toning, photo filters, HDR, etc.)

Cash prize award amounts are as follows:
1st Place: $500
2nd Place: $200
3rd Place: $100

This year, we've added a "Bonus Special Interest Category" option! Enter your best photos from your favorite breweries, distilleries, and wineries in the Laurel Highlands! One winner will be selected from this "bonus special interest" category and will be awarded $100! 

Rules & Guidelines

Only photos taken in the Laurel Highlands (Fayette, Somerset or Westmoreland Counties, PA) will be eligible. Use of watermarks on the photo is prohibited. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age at the time of submission. Photos that have been manipulated will automatically be placed in Category 4 - Altered Images. Please refrain from submitting collages, composite images, and images that have been digitally transformed with special effects in the Altered Images Category.

Deadline for submissions is August 31, 2017.

Please name files as such: "Photographer's Name, Photograph Location, Town Name" (ex: John Smith, Living Treasures Animal Park, Donegal)

Please attach one high-quality image per submission; you may submit an unlimited number of images for the contest. Photos of private property are not eligible. Black & white photos will not be accepted, only full-color, high-quality images will be eligible. Only high-quality digital photo submissions will be accepted for the contest. 

By submitting an application, the Applicant hereby agrees that all photographs submitted shall become property of the Laurel Highlands Visitors Bureau® in perpetuity. The Laurel Highlands Visitors Bureau reserves the non-exclusive right to use any photograph(s) in its publications or other promotional purposes. By submitting this application and photo, the Applicant also acknowledges that any persons appearing in submitted photograph(s) have given the Applicant and the Laurel Highlands Visitors Bureau® consent for reproduction and promotional use.
