LIGONIER, Pa., (Feb. 19, 2019) – The Laurel Highlands Visitors Bureau offers a new wellness tour, scheduled for May 19, 2019.
The full-day group tour, “Journey of Self: A Wellness Tour of Pennsylvania’s Laurel Highlands,” encourages participants to get away and explore the world of wellness. Activities include yoga, group meditation, nature hikes and wellness workshops facilitated by professionals at great locations throughout the region. Planned stops include Nemacolin Woodlands Resort’s Holistic Healing Center, Laurelville Retreat, Ohiopyle State Park and SanaView Farms. Plus, participants will enjoy healthy, rejuvenating meals at two top restaurants, a few surprises along the way and on-board expert guide service.
This wellness tour will be the first time the LHVB has organized and offered tour services to the public. Tour services are generally prepared and offered to group tour operators and regional tourism partners, including the annual Backyard Tour.
“For many years, the LHVB has hosted an annual Backyard Tour to better acquaint our front tourism staff with all of the incredible offerings in the Laurel Highlands,” said Ann Nemanic, Executive Director, LHVB. “The Backyard Tour helps them to answer the perpetual visitor question ‘What is there to do around here?’
“We would often hear from those participants ‘I wish my friends could come on a tour like this!’ From there, the idea of a public tour was born.
“The itinerary and all nuances of our first public tour are being orchestrated by Stacey Magda, our Director of Tourism Development. Her expertise in tour planning is well-known by tour operators across the US and Canada. Now, anyone can hop aboard a beautiful motorcoach and explore the beauty of the Laurel Highlands as we see it each and every day.”
“The Laurel Highlands is home to endless nurturing experiences including the great outdoors, healthy dining locations, spas, holistic centers and renowned wellness practitioners,” said Stacey Magda, Director of Tourism Development, LHVB. “I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to connect visitors to the Laurel Highlands with a rejuvenating experience featuring all of those elements of wellness.”
“Journey of Self: A Wellness Tour of Pennsylvania’s Laurel Highlands,” includes all activities, on-board refreshments, healthy snacks and two locally-sourced meals for $160 per person. All participants must be 18 years or older to attend and are welcome to bring along their own snacks and refreshments for the day. Maximum capacity for this event is 48 participants.
Participants will be picked up at 7:30 a.m. at the North Huntingdon Target and 8:30 a.m. at the New Stanton Comfort Inn. The tour bus will return guests at 9 p.m., New Stanton Comfort Inn and 9:30 p.m., North Huntingdon Target. Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable active layers and bring a change of clothes for the dinner event. While Wi-Fi will be available on the motorcoach, participants are encouraged to unplug for the day and immerse themselves in the experience.
