A native of Southwestern Pennsylvania, Rachel Sager works on the cutting edge of the contemporary mosaic fine art movement. Her imaginary map-like mosaics have been featured internationally and in cities throughout the U.S. where she has received multiple Best in Show Awards in juried exhibitions and the MAI 2018 Best Architectural & Site-Specific Mosaic for The Fishers of Men Manannán mac Lir Mosaics: Spirit of Place located in the Cong Woods of County Mayo, Ireland.

The Ruins Project is a long-term mosaic art installation amidst the ruins of a former coal mine in Fayette County, Pennsylvania. Located on the Great Allegheny Passage, this outdoor mosaic museum attracts artists, students, and travelers from all over the world.The walls and rooms of The Ruins represent the rebirth of abandoned American coal country into a spiritual and artistic pilgrimage and destination for adventure seekers and lovers of art and history. 45 minute tours by appointment year round. Minimum of 3 people required to book a tour.

The Studio Shop:

Located in Whitsett, PA near mile marker 104 on the Great Allegheny Passage Bike Trail, Sager Mosaics studio has mosaic art, micromosaic jewelry, partitions and GAP trinkets for travelers, and eclectic vintage finds.  Tours of The Ruins Project may also be booked in the studio or online here.
