The Mary S. Biesecker Public Library was started in 1914 by a true grass roots effort of nearly 100 Somerset residents.  Over the last 100 years, our library has grown in its size, service and support.

Our mission is to promote lifelong learning by providing informational, educational, and recreational materials and programs for all people of the community.

We are located at 230 South Rosina Avenue, Somerset, and we serve the people of Somerset County and the general public. Our historic facility was built in the early 1940's during the 2nd World War and includes three original murals commissioned by local Pittsburgh artists as part of the WPA.

We offer a collection of over 35,000 items which include fiction and nonfiction books for all ages, audio books, reference books, magazines, genealogy materials, and free audio and eBook downloads.

Our educational and recreational programs include book clubs, family movies, technology education, speakers, book signings, writer's group, toddler time, preschool, and summer reading.

We also offer a year-round used book sale, fast WiFi and public computers, printing/copying/faxing services, local genealogy research assistance, and free library cards.
