November 15, 2019 - February 2, 2020

Overview

The Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art at Ligonier Valley will celebrate the work of local artists with the Southwestern Pennsylvania Council for the Arts 24rd Annual Regional Juried Art Exhibition

The exhibition features work by artists from the 19 southwestern counties of Pennsylvania. Featured works will span a variety of media, including acrylic, oil, pastel, photography, watercolor, wood, masonry, and many others.

Since its inception, the exhibition has become known for its freshness and energy in the art of emerging young artists and for the dazzling presentations of established artists who are developing a new direction with their art. This installment marks the sixteenth consecutive year the exhibition is hosted by SAMA Ligonier Valley.

Serving as juror was Jason Ward. Ward is a graduate of the Maryland Institute College of Art (BFA) in 2002, and the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, Philadelphia, PA. (MFA) in 2011. Ward has exhibited at numerous galleries including in Baltimore, Philadelphia, Brooklyn, Lancaster, York, and Reading among others. In the spring of 2007, he opened and co-managed an art gallery in Lancaster. In 2011 he stepped away to focus his energy on teaching. His work has been published by Hex, Prehistoric Times, and most recently Spectrum. Since the fall of 2016 he has been teaching as an Adjunct Professor of Fine Art, Painting, Drawing, and Illustration at the Pennsylvania College of Art and design. During that time, he has taught several master classes and workshops, and lectures about his work.
