The Bottle Works Presents a companion exhibit to our 2019 Arts Heal Exhibit, Let’s Heal by Brenda Sanner. Opening reception will be held during our 3rd Thursday Gallery Night Event on May 16 in our Black Box Theater.

Brenda Sanner ~ Artist Bio

Mother, Wife, Creative. As an artist, I work with various mediums. Photography is my first love, but I also enjoy quilting, Zentangle, and refinishing old furniture, among other artistic explorations. I use these expressive outlets as a means of healing and creating balance in a busy life, and for that reason I do not take commissions. In addition to my two sons and my husband, my other loves are our two dogs, music, and the ocean.

I have volunteered for two separate sessions as an artist in residence at a federal prison teaching Expressive Arts. I have also volunteered at a medical clinic teaching Expressive Arts as a stress-reduction technique.

As a photographer, I enjoy capturing authentic moments and finding beautiful scenes in everyday life. Many of my photos are titled after favorite music lyrics.

Talbot started this healing outreach with students in his Community Engagement through the Expressive Arts class at Mount Aloysius. “For the folks from these communities, the engagement is in the process. The support from artists and instructors themselves becomes more important than the art itself,” Talbot said. “Visitors to this exhibit will be surprised by the variety of production. We don’t teach classes, this art is a product of their own personal expression created in open art studios. Most don’t consider themselves artists, and the majority have very little background, but still they produce very extraordinary art work.”
