History Speaks Series-"The Making of Native American Clothing"

While in Native dress Dana Knezevich, author of Life of Eastern Woodland Indians, will discuss  “The Making of Native American Clothing”. The discussion will focus on how trade clothing made the American Indian’s life much easier. Knezevich will demonstrate how labor intensive it was to process plants for use in weaving of clothing, footwear, bags and other items. Finished twinned items and examples of how they were setup on a loom will be displayed. Her dress including wool wrap skirt and cloth shirt will be compared to pre-European contact clothing as a visual.
