Visitors can tour the 98 step, 1930s-era restored fire tower built by the Civilian Conservation Corps. The tower sitting atop Laurel Ridge above Hidden Valley was used for many years by the Bureau of Forestry as a lookout to detect area wildfires. Then it was used as a radio tower by the Pa. Fish and Boat Commission. Then it was unused and fell into disrepair. Then Laurel Hill State Park Complex Manager Mike Mumau had an idea: why not renovate, operate as a park facility, and use it as a closely monitored educational and research tool? Tour the fire tour and take in the stunning vista above the canopy.
