The Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art’s upcoming Gala promises to be another stunning and unique event. This annual fundraiser, which supports the Museum’s art and its core outreach and education programs, will be held on Saturday, September 5. The event is held on the Kentucky Derby race day, the inspiration for this year’s theme. The Gala will be hosted at the beautiful Winsome Estate and Stables in Hollidaysburg, PA, the proper setting for a Derby Day Gala. Any inclement weather will not pose a problem as attendees will be on the immaculate arched covered patios and barn. The Kentucky Derby race shown live on a huge screen at race time.

This is a year of change for the SAMA Gala. The food will be butlered, featuring exquisite hors d’oeuvres and an open bar with Mint Juleps. Post-race, there will be an exciting live auction. The Casino will be open all evening where guests can try their luck to win bountiful gift baskets. The silent auction will be set up like little private shops and will feature one-of-a-kind experiences, gourmet dinners, trips, art pieces, Christmas decor, and home and garden décor.

The night will be filled with music, laughter, the clinking of glasses, and lots of dancing. The Big House Band, out of Philadelphia, is this year’s featured band. One of the lead singers, Jimi Milligan, was a participant on NBC’s hit show, “The Voice”. Glenda Forosisky, SAMA Trustee, and Barb O’Brien are the Gala Co-chairs this year.

The annual Gala is SAMA’s largest fundraiser due to the support and generosity of its sponsors, patrons, and attendees. The Museum wishes to thank everyone who has contributed to the past success of SAMA events; and encourages everyone to support us again this year at the most unique and incredible Derby Day Gala.

Please contact SAMA Loretto for tickets, table sponsorships, patronage, and ads in our Gala program. Museum hours of operation are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday. The museum is open to the public free of charge.
