On May 31, 1889, a neglected dam and a storm led to a catastrophe in which 2,209 people died, thousands were left homeless and a city became a wasteland. The museum shows what happened and why – and the city’s triumphant recovery. Exhibits, artifacts, a map and a survivor’s house are joined by an Academy Award-winning documentary.
