For Halloween this year, plan a spooky getaway that’s more “thrilling” than “chilling.”

Families love to celebrate Halloween in Western PA because the Laurel Highlands has lots for hayrides, corn mazes and spooky attractions for kids of all ages. Huston’s Haunted Hollow in Somerset County offers frightening fun for everyone from the haunted farmhouse to hayride of horror to the evil woods walk. Faranda Farm Harvest Festival in Hollsopple features a 5-acre corn maze and hayrides. Screams in the night, shots in the distance, the whoops and cries of angry Native Americans and wounded British soldiers, a chilling look at the eighteenth century is given on the Haunted History Hayride and Candlelight Tour at Bushy Run Battlefield. Have a ghoulishly great time as historical reenactors frighten you with scenes from Pontiac's War.

HallowBoo!

What do you get when you mix the Idlewild you know and love with trick-or-treating, specially themed rides and attractions, Halloween entertainment, and a whole lot more? Idlewild’s HALLOWBOO! See the Laurel Highlands with its foliage ablaze in beautiful color while the park is decorated with thousands of cornstalks, hay bales, and pumpkins too! Designed for the entire family, it may be a little spooky and fun, but there’s nothing frightful about this Halloween event. Hallowboo! is definitely a “treat” worth experiencing.

Idlewild’s HALLOWBOO! Operates 12pm-6pm Saturdays and Sundays between October 6 and October 28, 2012.
