West Overton's Pokemon
- Aug 10, 2016
West Overton Village and Museums and Armstrong will host a Pokémon Go event on Wednesday, Aug. 10, from 5-7 p.m., at West Overton’s gym and two PokeStops.
Admission is free for this fun, family-friendly event, where the Armstrong EXP van will create a Wi-Fi hot spot, featuring Zoom Internet, so players don’t have to waste their phones’ data to play.
The event will feature non-stop lure modules, a free phone-charging station, and prizes for the highest ranking trainer as well as the best Pokémon caught by 6:45 p.m. Every visitor has chance to win the door prize of a Mophie® Power Brick.
Gee’s Ice Cream truck from Mt. Pleasant will sell frozen goodies and West Overton volunteers will sell pizza and do-it-yourself s’mores. Armstrong will provide free water and fresh-popped popcorn.
Pokémon Go is a sensationally popular “augmented reality” game whose players hunt for cartoon characters with their smart phones, and try to catch and collect them.
West Overton has experienced a wave of Pokémon visitors recently, people – young and old -- trying to “catch ‘em all.”
“We’re so excited at how many people are being drawn to West Overton because of this game, people who might not have ever been here before. This will be a really fun day and we expect lots of ‘battling’ back and forth for our gym,” said Managing Director Jessica Kadie-Barclay.
