Small Business Saturday is November 26th, 2016. This year the small businesses and merchants that comprise the community of Georgian Place are sponsoring a Shop Small Give Large promotion. The Businesses and Non-Profits of Georgian Place have each chosen a charity of their choice. Each participating organization is selling luminaries for at $5 each with proceeds benefiting the chosen charity. At dusk (about 5:30PM) on Small Business Saturday the luminaries will light up Georgian Place as a demonstration of the goodness and kindness of our community. Each luminary will represent a charitable contribution.
Members of the community can donate to their favorite charities by stopping in at one of these organizations and purchasing a luminary: Victorian Finance, LLC - Suite 109, Sugar Grove Antiques – Suite 309, The Sewing Box – Suite 311, Larenas -Suite -Suite 312, Pages & Light – Suite 314, Insurance Services, LLC – Suite 405, Welcome Home – Suite 407, It’s New to You - Suite 411, Skills – Suite 414, Barnes, Saly & Company, P.C. - Suite 423, Interim Healthcare – Suite 512, ViaQuest – Suite 607, Nick’s Kitchen – Suite 705. Charities that are benefiting from this event include: American Cancer Society, Children’s Aid Society, Derek Lenart, The Humane Society, #sophiastrong, and The Welfare League. Many of the businesses will continue these fundraising efforts throughout the holiday season.
On Small Business Saturday, retail stores open at 10AM and many have great specials planned for the day. The first 20 customers at each location will receive a canvas Shop Small tote stock full of gifts, coupons and promotional materials. Santa will arrive at 2PM and will be available for photo ops at It’s New to You - Suite 411 until 4PM. Also at 2PM the GP Cookie Tour will begin, stop by the businesses with the Cookie Tour sign in the window or on the door, treat yourself to a cookie, score a recipe and vote for the best cookie! The tour ends at 4PM. Take your photo at the photobooth outside Suite 313. At dusk the Luminaries will be on display and many of the shops will be hosting open houses with specials and light refreshments. At Pages & Light customers will be treated to live music with a very special Saturday night open mic. At center court roast marshmallows over the fire pit and sip on hot chocolate. The Christmas tree will be lit in the lawn area.

Small business owners and Main Street businesses are the fabric of our daily lives. They have energy and passion for what they do, and when you support small businesses, jobs are created and local communities preserve their unique culture. More than anything, these entrepreneurs need customers. Small Business Saturday also provides us an opportunity to honor and celebrate the hardworking men and women that are creating jobs and fueling the economy in their local neighborhoods.
