Ligonier Valley Historical Society announces History with a Purpose: An Evening with . . . HICKORY BOTTOM BAND
The Ligonier Valley Historical Society is pleased to offer this free early evening outdoor concert on the grounds of its historic Compass Inn Museum. The concert will feature the music of Hickory Bottom Band (www.hickorybottomband.com). A band that brings together a lineup of talented musicians and singers with long histories of performing, writing, and recording. Members of the band include Jeff Bell from Ligonier on banjo, Chris Bollman from Bedford on vocals, Mark Bollman also from Bedford on mandolin, Nelson Clark on dobro, Roger Grimm from near Bedford on guitar and vocals, and Dan Smith from Schellsburg on bass.
Formed in 2015 Hickory Bottom band features contemporary bluegrass and country music. Tight three-part harmonies, solid pickin', and lotsa fun are the hallmarks of this fine western Pennsylvania-based band. Every member has a rich musical history in a variety of genres, so the material ranges from both well-known and obscure bluegrass classics, to grassy versions of select radio hits from the past 40 years. No matter the music's source, it's "all bluegrass" from this talented bunch!
“Enjoy Hickory Bottom’s energetic performance and feel like you are in your own backyard for a picnic by bringing a basket full of your favorite al fresco food and drinks. Tables will be provided but please bring your own chair or blanket,” said Theresa Gay Rohall, Executive Director of the Ligonier Valley Historical Society. The grounds of Compass Inn Museums will open at 5:45 pm and the music will start at 6:30 pm.
Through the generous support of The Markosky Engineering Group Inc. and Westmoreland County Local Arts Grant Program, admission to the concert is free. There will be a 50/50 raffle with the proceeds benefitting the Compass Inn Museum’s next History with a Purpose.
