Genealogy For Beginners Talk
- Mar 5, 2017
North Huntingdon family historian Donna Edwards-Jordan will discuss Genealogy For Beginners at West Overton’s first Parlor Talk of the year on Sunday, March 5, at 2 p.m., in the Overholt Room.
Cost is $5 per person and can be paid at the door or by visiting the West Overton website under events.
Ms. Jordan will explain the basics of mapping out one’s family tree, and debunk the notion that one needs to be tech savvy to undertake the research. She will also explain the basic elements of a family tree, plus what information to look for, and where to find it.
She said that pay-to-use subscriptions would have people believe a computer is necessary to research their family history and the fact is, that is not true.
“Sadly, many people who would like to join in on the fun don't, because they feel they ‘can't afford it’ or are ‘not good with computers,’” she said.
The event benefits West Overton Village and Museum, located at 109 West Overton Rd. in Scottdale.
