As nights get cooler and days get shorter, RYT-200 Brynn Cunningham returns to bring you Ashtanga Yoga, the original power/vinyasa yoga. Autumn is a wonderful time to incorporate this practice as a means to fire up the body and soul!
Ashtanga is a system of yoga transmitted to the Western world by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois of India. This method of yoga involves synchronizing the breath with a progressive, fixed series of postures—a process producing intense internal heat and a purifying sweat that detoxifies muscles and organs. Class will work mainly with the Primary Series and add some Second Series and Third Series poses when appropriate. Ashtanga is vinyasa style, challenging students to maintain ujjayi breath, energy locks and a soft gaze throughout the dynamic practice. This is a vigorous, athletic class.
Class times: 5-6:30 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 24; Oct. 22; Nov. 19; and Dec. 10
