There's always a bunch of fun-filled events during the weekends in the Laurel Highlands, and Labor Day weekend is no exception! Just a few events happening this weekend are featured below, but you can find more here!
Jennerstown Speedway has affordable stock car races every Saturday night, which is fun for the entire family! The gates open at 4 p.m., so get there on time to watch the on-track practice and then the race starts at 6 p.m.!
These races are enough to thrill everybody, young and old. You won't have to break the bank for a family-friendly Saturday night; the speedway offers free parking for spectators, adult tickets are $10, children ages 12 and under get in FREE and they sell all of your favorite "summer fun foods" for cheap! Come see, hear and feel the roaring engines against the backdrop of the Laurel Highlands’ great outdoors.
If you're having a Labor Day picnic, be sure to make your way to the Somerset County Farmers' Market, a producer-only market located at Georgian Place outlet mall.
The Somerset County Farmers' Market is special, they have a mission to provide children and adults in their area with locally-grown and farm products and provide a venue for the social, educational and economic growth of the community. The market accepts WIC, presents educational events for buyers and vendors and gives donations to food banks, churches, homeless centers and more. All the more reason to spend your Saturday morning shopping at the Somerset County Farmers' Market!
If you have always wanted to kayak but don't know where to start, spending your Labor Day weekend with the Wildnerness Voyageurs at Ohiopyle State Park is the perfect way to learn! Their 2-day group session will start with the absolute basics and will get you comfortable in the water. All necessary equipment will be provided as well as two lunches, two breakfasts and transportation to and from the river. You can't beat that!
There are three key factors to having an amazing Labor Day weekend: food, friends and music. Stone House Inn's Party On The Lawn will have all three! They will start cooking "the best BBQ on the mountain" at 10 a.m., live music will be boomin' from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. and it gets better...admission is FREE! Even if you can't make it to the party, you can order BBQ packages for pick-up or delivery. Just call 724-329-8876.

This Sunday, Antique Automobile Club of America's Western Pennsylvania Regional Chapter will be hosting their 54th annual car show at Legion-Keener Park. There will be a judged car show, which requires a $10 registration fee, as well as a section for classic car owners who want their cars shown, but not judged. In addition, there will be food vendors, a bake sale, Chinese auction, 50/50 tickets and car part vendors during the show.
